Eliza Carthy born August 23, 1975. Girl of legendary English folk musicians singer/guitarist Martin Carthy and singer Norma Waterson. Eliza is an accomplished folk musician herself, both singing & swimming fiddle.

She formed a Waterdaughters with her mother, aunt (Lal Waterson) and cousin-german Maria Knight in 1989. She has afterward worked by using Nancy Kerr, and too by having her parents when Waterson:Carthy, in addition to her have solo operate.

She has twice been nominated for the Mercury Music Prize for UK album of the year: within 1998 for Red Rice, and over agaaround in 2003 for Anglicana.

Around 2003 Eliza swept a boards at a BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, winning Folk Singer of the Year, Right Album (for Anglicana) & Right Traditional Track (for Worcester City, on the album Anglicana).

Inside 2004 she was the portion of Oysterband Large Session, a collaboration by having many folk creative person brought together by Oysterband. It produced an album A Large Session Volume 1, & a class action as a whole were awarded Right Class action at a Folk Awards inside 2005.
